I am an experienced DBA with other DBMSes and am making the transition
to MS SQLServer. What references can members of the MS SQLServer
community recommend for a smoother switch -- essential OEM manuals,
3rd-party books, websites, news groups, online courses, useful
certifications to pursue, do's-don'ts-gotchas lists, etc? Your
experienced insight is greatly appreciated. My advice would be to learn how to find the BOL (Books on line - Query
Analyzer Help File) quickly. BOL has a ton of information.

I found this link:

By searching for: "Informix porting" on the Microsoft site.
