Expired subscription clean up - Failed

Hi,
I have a merge replicate setup and is working fine.
Suddenly since last 4-5 days my "Expired subscription clean up" stored
procedure started failing.
The error message in the job history is
Unable to connect to SQL Server '(local)'. The step failed.
Can somebody help me to resolve this issue.
