export excel fail

Hi All:
I create a report and it works perfectly when i export repor to PDF, CVS etc
except Excel.
The error i got is: Subreports within table/mastrix cells are ignored.
any hepl are appreciated.
Thanks
NickHello Nick,
This is a limitation of the Excel render engine:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/prodtechnol/sql/2005/rsdesign.mspx
"Excel does not support nested containers other than lists."
and:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms155976.aspx
"Any data region nested inside of a table or matrix data region is not
supported. An error is displayed in Excel if this layout is encountered. "
You can look at:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms156268.aspx
and find tips on designing your report to look good when rendered in
different formats. Modify your report to use lists rather than tables and
you should be able to overcome this issue.
Good luck!

Just wonder that is that any way i can remove excel export from the report
view as i don't really need this export function.
Cheers

think. :-) Try removing the \Configuration\Extensions\Render\Extension for
the Excel renderer from RSReportServer.config. I believe that will disable
it. There may be an easier way, but that is the first one that comes to mind.

export a table

I tried to write a package for transferring SQL 2005 table to a flat file in
Visual Studio. However I got the unicode error message at the destination
even though I only use English. Does anyone has idea? Thanks.
The message is as following :
Error: Column "Status" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode
string data types.
Error: ... ( The same message with all the column in the source table)
Please help. Thanks.

Sounds like source database may be using nvarchar for its columns?
Probably need to cast them (and possibly lose unicode data, but sounds like
you have none) before you export them.

I'll try; No, please use "microsoft.public.sqlserver.integrationsvcs" and
I'm wondering if you mean by "overwrite" that you want it to have the data-converted
columns have the same names, yes you can do that but note you will still
be generating a new lineage for the converted column and all of the overhead
associated with that.

Export - Excel Error

Hi All,
i am not able to export the report as excel. it showing the below
error:
i am using the MSRS2000. i have installed microsoft office excel 2003.
Microsoft Office Excel File Repair Log
Errors were detected in file 'C:\Documents and
Settings\vinod_banagani\Desktop\AppointmentLog.xls'
The following is a list of repairs:
Damage to the file was so extensive that repairs were not possible.
Excel attempted to recover your formulas and values, but some data may
have been lost or corrupted.
is RS2000 supports Excel 2000 only?
if anyone have faced this problem earlier, please tell me the solution.
Thanks in advance for your help...Thanks for your response Bruce.
i have upgraded SP2.
When I select the export to excel file format, I get the following in
the
excel file: "Data Regions within table/matrix cells are
ignored".
i am using tables and rectangles inside the table... and texboxes
inside the rectangle in my report. the report is showing perfectly but
when i select the export to excel file, it is throwing an error.
Is this a known bug in RS..
Any info will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Vinod

combination of tables, rectangles, tables within tables etc causes a
problem.
I don't know if 2005 would work better or not.

exported in the Excel rendering extension in RS2000 or RS2005. MHTML and
PDF rendering extensions do support sub-reports.

Regds,
vinodRS 2000 supports Excel 2003 out of the box. The inital release of RS did not
support Excel 2000 because it was using a format that 2003 knew but 2000 did
not. With SP1 this was fixed and both version of Excel work now. If you are
not on Sp1 or SP2 I recommend upgrading.

Explorer Script Error

Ever time I open Enterprise Manager and select the database to work on, I
recieve an Internet Script Error
LINE: 307
Char: 2
Error: Unspecified
Code: 0
URL:
res://C:\Program%20Files\Microsoft%20SQL%20Server\80\Tools\Binn\Resources\10
33\sqlmmc.rll/Tabs.htmlFor that error, Change the view for the database in
Enterprise Manager to something other than task pad. Then
close Enterprise Manager. The reopen Enterprise Manager and
change the view back to task pad. You should be able to
proceed from there without errors.

I don't think there is any fix other than going through this
routine when you get the error.

Explanation for Error Message

Where can I go to find out what error message 25602 means?
Thanks for your help.
HenryIs that a SQL error? Where/when do you get that?|||Thanks for your response. We got this message when we attempted to load the
enterprise edition of Microsoft Reporting Services on WIN2003 server running
SQL Server 2000. And that killed our installation attempt. It would be most
helpful to know what this means!

Expired Subscription Clean Up - REPOST

Running SQL 2k / Win 2k
I am getting an error on Replication Monitor->Agents->Misc
Agents->Expired Subscription Clean up that reads 'Executed as user:
ROUSES.COM\Administrator. Invalid object name 'sysarticles'. [SQLSTATE
42S02] (Error 208) Invalid object name 'sysarticleupdates'. [SQLSTATE
42S02] (Error 208) Associated statement is not prepared [SQLSTATE
HY007] (Error 0). The step failed.'
What dB is this table or tables missing from? How do I recreate
them?
AHIA,
Larry...
Sounds like a publication database. For some reason there seems to be an
bogus entry in distribution.dbo.mspublisher_databases or
distribution.dbo.mspublications.
Its looking at the view in sysextendedarticlesview in a publication
database. I can't tell which one it it. Run profiler and look for the db id.

thanks,

vijay

I would add the parameters to the collection first and set the value in the IF loops. Sometimes there are other conditions that you might not have accounted for.

Example:

myCommand.Parameters.Add(New SqlParameter("@.userid",SqlDbType.int));if txtbox1.text ==""{myCommand.Parameters("@.userid").Value = 0}else{myCommand.Parameters("@.userid").Value = userid}

Also, I would do a response.write of JobTypeCheckBoxList.Items.Count to see what the count is.

Gave my sore eyes some rest and changed the code as recommended and guess what it did do the trick!!!

thanks

vijay

:()Maybe that "" at the end should have been ";"?

You should really use prepared statements with bind variables. Not only do they improve performance and remove a security loophole, they also make it easier to write your SQL:

sqlStrDB = "update applicant set Name=?, Gender=?, Age=?,Marriage=?, HighEdu=?, ... , CoPostal=? where ID = ?;"|||same error message|||your first line:
sqlStrDB = "Your statement" _ (add the "_" at the end)

your second line:
& "Your statement" (add "&" at the first)

try to manipulate it if error happens again. I think it should work because you have to separate your string to another lines by these characters.

regards.

chris|||the problem is the variable name
i change to another name can liao

by the way thanks for ur help

Exit DTS Package

Is there a way to exit an executed DTS package using Microsoft TSQL without causing an error or does this need to be in VB?The TSQL executes within the package, and thus I don't think there is a way to directly stop the package using TSQL. I suppose you could call system stored procedures to command shell out and stop the service, or even identify the executing process and kill it, but I would certainly never recommend anything like this.

Your best be may be to have the TSQL return an error code or set an environment variable that your DTS package can respond to.|||Okay thanks. I did raiserror but that makes the package a failure which is what I don't want.|||the handling of return codes inside DTS is a different animal from RAISEERROR|||I ended up writing it in VB but thanks guys.

Execution 'rgaerh55bisinzr1nlmr13jk' cannot be found (rsExecutionN

I have a SSRS 2005 SP1 running on Windows 2003 SRS. On reports with
parameters we are getting the following error.
Execution 'rgaerh55bisinzr1nlmr13jk' cannot be found (rsExecutionNotFound).
Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on how to resolve this?
Thanks.Yes, we are seeing the same thing.
In our case, the report runs the first time, with the default parameters --
which says that there's an aweful lot of setup that is functioning just fine.
Then, upon changing a parameter and pressing "View Report", the following
obscure error shows up:
Execution 'qr1hx055hlpkx445xluqd4yv' cannot be found (rsExecutionNotFound)
It also occurs when simply pressing "View Report", with no changes to
parameters.
